Hi.
This site lives on a single computer chip. About $10 of silicon, mounted on a wall in my house, behind glass. Not a metaphor. Not a server. Not the cloud. A chip.
The first version went up in 2022 and ran for about five hundred days before the silicon gave out. The site went dark, the domain expired, and that should have been the end of it. Most things on the internet end that way.
But the chip was still around. The domain was available again. And the internet I came back to was heavier than the one I'd left: louder, slower, more of everything, most of it wasteful. This whole site weighs less than a single phone wallpaper. I wanted to see what one chip could still do against that.
So I built it again. I framed it. I put it on the wall. It serves every page you've seen here. It logs the temperature of the room it's in. It remembers everyone who's visited. As you're reading this, it's serving you this page.
This time it stays up. If it goes down, I fix it. That's the point now.
Since this version went live, a few visitors from a handful of countries have stopped by.
People I'll never meet have left guestbook entries. Strangers have starred the repo. That still surprises me.
While you're here, the guestbook is open if you'd like to leave a note. The live feed shows who else is visiting right now. The archive shows how the site has grown over time. The homepage has the live sensor readings from the room the device is sitting in.
